Has Macbeth Gone Mad?

Soon after Macbeth and Lady Macbeth greet and welcome everyone at the feast, the first murderer appears at the door to inform Macbeth of Banquo's death and Fleance's escape. This in turn angers Macbeth because he feels his throne is still not secure. When Macbeth returns to the table, Banquo's ghost is sitting in his sit and Macbeth begins to speak with it, even though it is invisible to everyone else. Lady Macbeth tells the company that her husband sometimes has visions and to disregard his actions. She speaks to him and the ghost disappears bringing him back into reality, but the ghost reappears causing Macbeth to continue the ouburst. Lady Macbeth sends the guests out of the room.

Macbeth says to himself that "Blood will have blood." He then tells Lady Macbeth of word that Macduff plans to stay away from the court which are signs of treason. He plans to visit the three witches once again to find out who is plotting against him and declares that he will do whatever to protect his throne.
